This recording ends a lifelong dedication and ministry of gospel music that is to be called ”a musical landmark” not only in the US but throughout the world. THE FINAL SESSIONS was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Southern, Country, Or Bluegrass Gospel Album. J.D. Sumner led the Stamps to great fame as one of the preeminent post-war gospel groups. Their sound blossomed throughout the decades, often breaking through to the mainstream (by the ’70s, they performed regularly with Elvis Presley).
