Hillsong – Mighty To Save – 17 Worship Songs

Mighty to Save is the fifteenth album in the live praise and worship series of Christian Contemporary music byHillsong Church. It was released in July 2006, at the annual Hillsong Conference. The album peaked at No. 25 on theARIA Albums Chart.[1]

Mighty to Save was recorded live at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on 5 March 2006 by Darlene Zschech and the Hillsong team. Over 10,000 people from Hillsong Church gathered to record the album.

Songs on Mighty to Save were written over the year before the album recording. Songs such as ”Higher” were written earlier in 2002, while songs like ”The Freedom We Know” were written in the weeks before the album recording. The album also includes songs from the Hillsong United album United We Stand.

The majority of songs were written by Reuben Morgan, Marty Sampson, Joel Houston, Ben Fielding and Darlene Zschech. New Zealand singer-songwriter Brooke Fraser, who moved to Hillsong Church after moving to Australia, wrote a song for the album.

”More to See” was written by Darlene Zschech, Mia Fieldes, Deborah Ezzy, Donia Makedonez and Nigel Hendroff after Darlene was inspired to write a song by women who had lived the Christian life and could inspire others.

”Mighty To Save” has been covered by several artists such as Jeremy Camp, Newsboys, Laura Story, and Michael W. Smith. It has also been translated into Spanish Sólo Dios Puede Salvar, French Sauve Avec Puissance, German Du Allein Rettest Mich, Italian Cristo Muove Le Montagne, Portuguese Poder Pra Salvar, as well as into Russian, Bulgarian (”Величествен Бог”), Dutch, Japanese and other languages.
